Bringing inventory in yourself adds a few responsibilities. Here is what to have in place, and which parts we handle.
Each product needs a tariff classification for customs and duty. Shopify also uses HS codes in product customs information. We confirm classifications before shipping.
US customs requires imported goods to be marked with their country of origin, such as 'Made in China', on the product or its retail packaging.
Someone has to be the importer for customs. Under DDP we arrange clearance and pay duties, so delivery reaches your 3PL already cleared.
Children's products, electronics, and cosmetics need test reports or certificates such as CPC, FCC, or Prop 65 warnings. We coordinate testing with accredited labs.
Most 3PLs need an advance shipping notice, SKU labels on units, and labeled cartons. We pack to your 3PL's receiving guide.
